FAQ

What is the difference between Pure Perfume, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, and Eau de Cologne?

The differences are simply a matter of the amount or concentration of oils in the fragrance. The highest concentration is in pure perfume (or parfum). Next would be Eau de Parfum, then Eau de Toilette, and finally Eau de Cologne.

Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne are generally interchangeable, especially in men's fragrances. After shave has the least amount of oils. The higher the concentration, the longer your fragrance will last, and the less you need to apply.

Does Dana Classic Fragrances provide samples?

Sorry, but we do not offer free samples at this time. We try to price our products as low as we possibly can, so you might try a sampler set that has a variety of fragrances so you can discover which ones are best for you.

What is shower gel?

Shower gel is soap in a different form. It is made for use by both men and women, foams up well and leaves your chosen fragrance on the skin. It then enhances your cologne or perfume and the fragrance will last much longer.

Does Dana Classic Fragrances practice animal testing?

Absolutely not! None of Dana Classics products have been tested on animals. We do not even buy ingredients from vendors who test on animals, nor do our vendors buy from manufacturers who test on animals. You can be sure that no animals were killed or harmed in the process of making our products.

Do I pay Sales Tax?

We are required by law to collect sales tax on orders being shipped to New Jersey and Florida. If your order is being shipped to any other state in the U.S., sales tax will not be added.

What is the difference between a splash and a spray?

There is absolutely no difference in the fragrance. The difference is in the method of application only. However, a spray bottle, being sealed all the time, may actually have a longer shelf life. Making the decision between spray and splash is entirely a matter of personal preference.

How can I keep my fragrance from going bad?

Keep all fragrances in a cool, dry, dark area. Exposure to sunlight can put the various ingredients out of balance. Once a bottle has been opened, keeping it in its box can insure a longer shelf life.

How can I make my scent last longer?

Because of differences in our skin (oily or dry, for example), fragrances last longer on some people than on others. To achieve a longer effect, try layering your fragrance. Use the fragrance bath gel, then the moisturizer or powder, and then the Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum, or Eau de Cologne, This will usually produce a longer-lasting effect.

PH levels (the amount of acidity in our skin) also vary slightly from person to person. Our individual levels of PH will determine how each ingredient in a fragrance will react. This is why the same fragrance may produce a different scent on you than it would on someone else.

Another tip: Apply your fragrance low on the body, as well as behind your ears and on your neck, so that the scent rises and you won’t lose it as quickly. A light spray on the hair can last all day.

Why do fragrances contain alcohol?

Alcohol makes a fragrance emanate from your skin. Without alcohol, you would be the only person who knew you were wearing any fragrance at all. As we all know, great fragrances are meant to be shared.

What are the differences between After Shave Lotion and After Shave Gel?

After Shave Lotion helps close the pores after shaving, and it may sting for a moment as it’s being applied. After Shave Gel soothes and cools the skin, and it relieves razor burn as well.

What are fragrance notes?

Fragrances are comprised of many different scents, these scents are called “notes.” Since fragrances are made from unique mixes of natural ingredients, the notes usually include a list of these ingredients.

Top notes are very light and last for just five to ten minutes after you apply the fragrance. Middle notes become apparent after that, and they can last up to an hour or more. Bottom notes are the heavier ingredients. These last the longest, usually for several hours.
